QAWRUMS at EWGAE 2026: Exhibiting and Presenting in Lyon, France

Brief:We exhibited and presented a research paper at the 37th Conference of the European Working Group on Acoustic Emission (EWGAE 2026), held at INSA Lyon, France, September 8-10, 2026, connecting with the international acoustic emission community.

We are pleased to share that QAWRUMS participated as an exhibitor and research presenter at the 37th Conference of the European Working Group on Acoustic Emission (EWGAE 2026), held at INSA Lyon, France, from September 8 to 10, 2026. As Europe’s dedicated forum for acoustic emission science and engineering, EWGAE brought together researchers, NDT professionals, and manufacturers from universities, research institutes, and industry across Europe, Asia, North America, and beyond.

Throughout the three days, our booth welcomed a steady stream of visitors — professors, PhD students, NDT service companies, and instrumentation specialists. We ran live demonstrations of one-dimensional acoustic emission source localization on our RAEM1-6 multi-channel system with SWAE analysis software, and many visitors took the software in hand themselves. Applications discussed at the booth ranged from storage tanks, bridges, and rotating machinery to aerospace structures and power-plant infrastructure.

Our Research Paper: Learning-Based AE Source Localization

Beyond exhibiting, we were proud to contribute to the scientific programme with a dedicated research presentation. Our paper, “A Learning-Based Framework for Acoustic Emission Source Localization in Complex Metallic Structures”, was delivered at the conference and received strong interest from the attending community.

The framework trains a compact neural network to map acoustic emission features directly to source locations on complex geometries — a task where classical localization algorithms often struggle. The resulting model is lightweight enough for real-time field use (around 30 µs per event on a single CPU core, with a model size under 100 kB) and was validated on two real structures, from a laboratory plate to a full-scale radial-gate hinge.

Products on Display

At our exhibition booth, we showcased our RAEM series wireless online monitoring systems — RAEM1, RAEM1-6, and RAEM2 — alongside our acoustic emission sensors, including miniature and curved form factors for tight or non-flat mounting surfaces, and our SWAE analysis software with real-time source-localization views. The wireless, battery-powered RAEM monitors drew particular interest from engineers planning long-term unattended installations.

An International Gathering

EWGAE 2026 was as much about people as about technology. Between the technical sessions, a river cruise through Lyon, and the gala dinner, we exchanged ideas with engineers and researchers from Germany, France, Japan, the United States, Malaysia, and many other countries — and we were glad to see young researchers from INSA Lyon and beyond taking an interest in our work and in careers in acoustic emission.

We would like to thank the EWGAE organizing committee and INSA Lyon for hosting such a well-run and intellectually stimulating event. We look forward to continuing these conversations, deepening our involvement in the EWGAE community, and seeing everyone again at future editions.
